BuildRight opened in 1985 in a converted print shop on Lorain Ave, with one cash register and a Vespa parked out front. We added the lumber yard in 1991, the rental department in 1998, and the second-floor pro counter in 2009. Tom Sr. still walks the floor on Saturdays.
We’re a member of the Ace Hardware co-op for our supply chain, but everything about how the store runs is local — the hire decisions, the deals, the workshops, the “you don’t need to buy the bit, just borrow mine” conversations at the counter.
