II · The Approach

Wealth advice should sound less like a sales call — and more like a good Sunday-night conversation.

We sit at the same table as our clients. We get paid one way — directly, transparently, by them. No commissions for placing you in a product. No revenue-share with the funds we recommend. No bonus for selling the firm’s insurance. Just a quarterly fee and the kind of advice that comes from being on the same side of the table.

Twenty-eight years in, we’ve found that most of what matters in a wealth plan isn’t the returns — it’s the structure. The right entity, the right tax bracket, the right beneficiary designation, the right giving vehicle, the right insurance you actually need. The right plan for the year you stop earning.

We are paid by you. Only by you. Every recommendation we make is structurally free of the conflicts that quietly cost most American households a meaningful share of their lifetime returns. — Helena Marsh, CFP®, Founding Partner

If that matches how you’d like your money to be managed, the next step is a 30-minute discovery call. It costs nothing. We’ll listen, ask a few questions, and if we’re a fit we’ll send you a written engagement proposal. If we’re not — we’ll tell you, and where appropriate, we’ll refer you to a colleague who is.

II.a · Why Fee-Only Matters

Fee-only means we receive zero compensation from product manufacturers, insurance companies, custodians, or any third party. We earn one fee, paid by you, disclosed in dollars on every invoice.

II.b · Who We Serve
  • Pre-retirees, age 55-67
  • Business owners contemplating exit
  • Inheriting families & trustees
  • Tech & finance executives w/ RSU concentration
  • Multi-generational families
II.c · How We're Held Accountable

Form ADV Part 2A filed annually with the SEC. CEFEX-certified fiduciary firm — one of fewer than 80 in the United States. Independent custody at Charles Schwab Institutional.

III · Services

Six chapters in one continuous plan.

The financial plan we write for you is a single document, updated quarterly. The six services below are chapters of it — never silos, never sold separately, never recommended without the others factored in.

CHAPTER 01

Retirement Planning

Cash-flow modeling, Social Security optimization, withdrawal sequencing, Roth conversion ladders, healthcare bridging from 55 to 65, long-term care strategy.

CHAPTER 02

Investment Management

Globally diversified portfolios built from low-cost institutional funds. Direct indexing for taxable accounts. Rebalanced systematically. Performance reported net of all fees.

CHAPTER 03

Tax Strategy

Multi-year tax-bracket optimization, asset location, Roth conversions, capital-gain harvesting, NUA, qualified opportunity zones. Coordinated with your CPA.

CHAPTER 04

Estate & Legacy

Trust design, beneficiary review, generation-skipping, charitable remainder trusts, donor-advised funds, family-mission drafting. Coordinated with your attorney.

CHAPTER 05

Risk Management

Property & casualty review, umbrella, disability, long-term care, life insurance need-analysis. We sell none of these — we only review them.

CHAPTER 06

College & Family

529 plans, intra-family loans, education-trust design, kiddie-tax planning, generational gifting strategy. Long-horizon planning for children and grandchildren.

IV · Our Process

Three meetings. One written plan.
Ongoing for as long as you'll have us.

I

Discover

30-min · no fee

A discovery call by phone or Zoom. We listen for an hour. You tell us what’s on your mind, where you are, what you want the next twenty years to look like. We tell you what we’d do.

II

Strategize

2 meetings · 4-6 weeks

We gather documents (returns, statements, wills, insurance), build a current-state map, and write a draft plan. We meet to walk through it, revise it, and finalize.

III

Execute & Monitor

Quarterly · ongoing

We implement the plan, custody at Schwab Institutional, and meet quarterly to review. Tax planning in Q3, beneficiary & estate review in Q4. Always available.

V · Partners

Four senior advisors. The same four since 2014.

Continuity matters in wealth advice. The advisor who designs your plan is the advisor who will deliver it — quarter after quarter, decade after decade.

VI · From Our Clients

What clients say when no one is asking.

"
I came to Helena six months after my husband died. She didn’t sell me anything. She walked me through what I had, what it would do for me, and what to do with the small inheritance from my mother. Eight years later she’s still the first person I call.
Margaret W.
Client since 2018 · Cambridge, MA
"
I sold my software company in 2022. Six firms pitched me. Meridian was the only one that started with “what does the next twenty years look like for you and your kids” instead of “here is our product.” Three years later that conversation is still the through-line of our plan.
R. K.
Founder, exited 2022 · Newton, MA
"
The thing about Meridian is what they DON’T do. They don’t pitch insurance. They don’t push annuities. They don’t have a “house view” they’re trying to fit you into. They have a plan they wrote for you, and they update it when the world changes.

VII · Begin

A thirty-minute conversation is a generous use of your evening. It's also free.

The discovery call is by phone or Zoom. We’ll listen. You’ll learn what we’d recommend. Whether you hire us or not, you’ll leave the call with a written one-page summary of the three things we’d do first.

We respond to every inquiry within one business day. No call centers, no nurture sequences, no “sales development representatives” — every reply comes from a partner.
