OUR STORY · A SOMMELIER, A SHOP

Fourteen years.
One sommelier.
Five-hundred small vineyards.

Vino & Vine opened in 2012 in a wood-floored room on South Congress, with one hundred-and-twenty bottles and a single tasting table that could seat six. The room is bigger now, the bottle count is five times what it was, and the table can seat fourteen on a Friday.

Sloane M., an MS-passed sommelier, owns and runs the shop. Every bottle on the shelf has been tasted by her, by Lin (our cellar manager), or by Ren (our wine-club lead). We don’t carry a wine because it sells — we carry it because we’d open it on a Wednesday at home.

“The best wines come from small places. The best wine shops come from the same.”
— SLOANE M., OWNER-SOMMELIER

"
The only wine shop where the recommendation matches my budget AND my taste. I’ve never been upsold. Sloane asked one question — “what did you have for dinner last Saturday?” — and put me on a bottle I’ve since bought a case of.

Three years in the wine club. Have never not opened a bottle on a Friday and texted my wife about it. Worth $49 just for the one-page letters; the bottles are gravy. The annual winemaker dinner is the best ticket in Austin.

Booked the back room for my birthday. Eleven friends, six bottles, two hours, and a sommelier who made my Texas-Hill-Country-loving father admit a Slovenian orange wine was the bottle of the night. Memorable.
